Partnerships flourish as P&N hosts annual community event

26 Jul2018

The Power of & was on full display when P&N's community family came together to connect, collaborate and share their stories at Perth Arena for the Bank's recent Flourish - Growing Partnerships in the Community event. The gathering brought together P&N's We Champion partners - Alongside, The Fathering Project, Lifeline WA and Variety WA, as well as representatives from other partners Crime Stoppers WA, United Way WA and Perth Wildcats.

Over 150 attendees, made up of dedicated volunteers, supporters and staff from the community partners were able to get to know each other, compare notes and meet representatives from P&N branches, Contact Centre, Board and other staff.

In inspiring and heartfelt ways, each We Champion partner shared their recent achievements and future ambitions, while also celebrating and thanking their volunteers and supporters.

Lorna MacGregor from Lifeline WA explained to guests the significant number of calls their volunteer crisis supporters take each shift and the length they go to in working through a person's crisis before concluding that they are safe and able to end a call.

Variety WA's Phil Croot shared Variety WA's mission and the impact grant support can have on the families with children with special needs they assist. Phil also used his speech to mark the 20th anniversary of the iconic and much loved Variety Youth Choir. A special highlight of the event was a performance from the Choir who sang four of their most popular numbers.

Wayne Bradshaw from The Fathering Project discussed the important role of a father or father figure on a child's outlook and future and their hope that this type of positive early intervention may mean people don't need to use Lifeline in a crisis down the track.
