The Fathering Project

Doing it for the kids.

There are lots of ways to be a great dad.

As one of P&N's community partners, The Fathering Project aims to inspire and equip fathers and father figures to engage with their kids.

Their activities are supported by research that having an effective father figure reduces the risk of a child engaging in dangerous behaviours and improves their mental health and social skills.

Take a look at this short (and very funny) video clip featuring Peter Rowsthorn on playing games with your kids.

Based at the University of Western Australia, the not-for-profit group provides useful and practical hints and tips for everyday dads on parenting; from dealing with teens to dealing with their own mental health.

The goal is to equip fathers and father figures with the tools to spend more quality time with their kids.

The group sends out regular emails to their network containing short clips and useful information, and also hold events throughout the year to give dads the opportunity to have some one-on-one time with their kids.

The Big Camp Out is one of these great initiatives, with the next one being held on October 14 at Subiaco Stadium.

You can sign up to receive emails from the Fathering Project or if you're interested in volunteering, get in touch with them on their website
