We’ve recently seen an increase in bank impersonation scams targeting P&N Bank customers.

These scams often involve a phone call from someone claiming to be from P&N Bank or our fraud department. The caller may sound convincing and create a sense of urgency, asking you to confirm details or take action (such as making a transfer) to help protect your money.

If you think you’ve been targeted or may have fallen victim to a scam, please contact us immediately. We’ll act quickly to try to recover your funds, but it’s important to reach out as soon as possible.

How bank impersonation scams work

Scammers may:

  • Claim there’s been suspicious activity on your account
  • Say there’s been an error that needs to be fixed urgently
  • Ask you to confirm personal or banking details
  • Ask you to transfer money to secure your account

What P&N Bank will never do

To help protect your accounts, please remember that we’ll never do any of the following:

  • Call you out of the blue and ask you to confirm account details (such as your full account number or current balance)
  • Ask you for your internet banking password or an SMS security code
  • Ask you to transfer money to correct an error or prevent fraud
  • Ask you to download or install software so we can access your device
  • Ask you to login to internet banking while using screen-sharing or remote access tool

When P&N Bank may contact you

We may occasionally contact you if your loan or credit card is behind on payments, or if you’ve requested something that requires a follow up. If we do contact you, we may need to ask some questions to ensure we’re speaking with the right person – however we will never ask for your internet banking password or to transfer money to another bank.

What to do if you receive an unexpected call

If you’re concerned about a phone call you’ve received from someone claiming to be from P&N Bank, please hang up immediately and call our contact centre on 13 25 77.

Calling us yourself ensures you’re definitely speaking with someone from P&N Bank – not a scammer
