A much-needed helping hand has been provided to deserving not-for-profit organisation, Down Syndrome WA, through P&N Bank’s recent round of community grants. The funding will go towards supporting the invaluable programs the group offers to their members to empower people with Down Syndrome to achieve their dreams.
Down Syndrome WA is a charitable organisation committed to providing a life of choice and inclusion for people with a diagnosis of Down Syndrome. They offer social groups for children from birth to those aged over 30 that provide invaluable connection and support for participants and families, often creating lifelong friendships and support networks.
DSWA also provides an employment program that supports West Australians with a diagnosis of Down Syndrome to obtain open employment, which is a strong catalyst for understanding and inclusion in the community.
Down Syndrome WA CEO, Cassandra Hughes said every donation they receive is important and ensures the organisation can undertake activities they may otherwise have to forgo.
“As a small not-for-profit, funding is limited and has to be reserved for key activities. Every donation is critical to our ability to deliver outstanding programs and look for new opportunities to support our community,” Ms Hughes said.
“We are deeply grateful for the Helping &nds grant from P&N Bank, which will assist us in delivering activities and programs that support inclusion and equity.”
General Manager P&N Bank, Angela Newland, said the bank has a long-standing history of supporting groups that champion inclusion for all, offering a helping hand to those in need in the local WA community.
“We know that when people work together, individuals, families, groups and our community will flourish,” Angela said.
“March 21 marked World Down Syndrome Day, which aims to empower people to advocate for full inclusion in society for people with Down Syndrome, and I’m proud that P&N could play a small role in shining a light on this important topic.”
