Our Board and Executive recognise that climate change has the potential to impact our organisation, our members, and the communities in which we operate.

As stated on the Market Forces website: “P&N Bank primarily lends for residential and investment housing/property/land, personal loans and credit cards. P&N Bank’s business lending excludes large-scale activities, projects and industries involved in exploration, extraction, or production of fossil fuels or in electricity generation from fossil fuels."

Even though we do not directly finance initiatives in the areas mentioned above we acknowledge that, currently, the use of fossil fuel energy is critical to the socio-economic sustainability of many individuals, businesses and communities who are still dependent on non-renewable energy. We will continue offering such individuals, businesses and communities financing and other services that they need for core business activities in areas other than the ones mentioned above.

In accordance with our values of partnering and supporting our members and their communities, we will continue to develop and improve our lending policies, procedures and products to support us, our members, and their communities to sustainably transition to a low-carbon future.

As a customer-owned banking group our purpose is to enrich the lives of our customers and their communities. So having an effective modern slavery response is important to us. We acknowledge the magnitude of the problem of modern slavery – with over 40 million people in slavery or slave-like conditions worldwide.

In developing our statement, our key focus has been identifying any potential areas of elevated risks of modern slavery within our operations and supply chains, including those that may be in distant tiers, far-removed from the suppliers with whom we have a direct contractual relationship.

P&N Group’s Modern Slavery Statement sets out:

  • mandatory reporting requirements under the Act
  • a description of modern slavery risks in our supply chains and operations
  • areas of potential elevated risk in our supply chains
  • actions to address risks of modern slavery.
