We recently sat down with one of our BDMs, Leanne Hendy, to take a closer look at how she supports Brokers day to day.

Getting to know Leanne

With close to a decade of experience in the finance industry, Leanne has always worked within the Broker sector. She’s been with P&N Bank for four years, bringing deep knowledge of Broker workflows, credit assessment, and policy to her current role as a Business Development Manager.

Before moving into business development, Leanne spent a couple of years as a Broker Assessor and around a year in the verifications team. This background means she understands applications from the inside out. Leanne explains, “I’m able to understand not just the policy itself, but how decisions are made and where flexibility may exist.” It also means Brokers can speak to her with confidence, knowing they’re getting guidance grounded in real assessment experience.

Outside of work, Leanne is a coffee and matcha lover, and an avid reader of fiction and fantasy. Her favourite fantasy book, Fourth Wing, reflects her love of immersive worlds and complex storylines, something that perhaps mirrors her enjoyment of unpacking layered Broker scenarios.

How Leanne supports Brokers

For Leanne, great Broker support starts with accessibility. Being available at the first point of contact is a priority, whether that’s answering phone calls, responding quickly to emails, or helping Brokers talk through scenarios in real-time.

She regularly works with Brokers on scenario-based discussions, including applications that fall outside standard policy. Drawing on her assessment background, Leanne helps Brokers understand risk appetite, potential pathways, and realistic outcomes early – saving time and giving Brokers clarity before they progress further with their clients.

“My favourite part of the job is the interaction with Brokers,” Leanne said. “It’s the people element and the relationships you build over time that make it so rewarding.”

Proactive support, not just problem solving

Leanne’s approach is proactive rather than reactive. She aims to ensure Brokers feel informed and supported upfront, so they have confidence from the very first conversation. “Regular visits, consistent updates, and reaching out before Brokers need to chase are all part of how I work”.

By anticipating questions and staying connected, Leanne helps Brokers feel supported throughout the process – not just when something goes wrong.

Leanne’s experience in credit assessment gives her a clear point of difference. She has the ability to workshop deals with Brokers using strong policy knowledge, while also understanding how discretion and delegations may apply in certain situations. This allows her to provide balanced, practical guidance on complex or non-standard scenarios.
