With the recent changes to the way businesses are now trading, many retailers are no longer accepting cash payments. Steering away from cash is a good way to limit the transmission of potentially harmful germs in these times, but what about shopping for essential items and paying bills?

How can I make purchases without using cash?

We want to encourage members to use one of the alternatives below to continue shopping safely.

Visa Debit card – Tap and pay

One of the quickest ways to make a payment with your card is to use the Tap and Pay (Visa PayWave) feature on your card.

To make a payment, simply hold your card next to the reader after the cashier processes your order and wait for the beep. For purchases over $100, you’ll need to enter your PIN.

To set up Tap and Pay:

  • If you have a Visa Debit card, ensure that Tap and Pay is enabled using Card Controls (available under Manage Cards) in Internet Banking or the Mobile App. This is already the preferred method of payment for many members.
  • If you do not have a Visa Debit card, please contact us to order a card today.
  • If you do not have a transaction account with P&N Bank, you can open a new & Transaction account in Internet Banking and get a Visa Debit card issued instantly to use in a digital wallet.

Making payments with your phone

For members with a compatible smart phone, you can load your Visa Debit card into a digital wallet – Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay – for making contactless transactions directly using your phone.

If you have an Apple iPhone, you can add your card directly through our Mobile App. Simply visit Manage Cards and follow the prompts for your selected card.

For Android users, open your Google Pay or Samsung Pay wallet and follow the prompts to load your card.

Paying bills

Most bills can be paid online now, meaning you can manage your bills wherever you are without needing to go into a Post Office or provider.

Using Internet Banking or the Mobile App:

  • Complete an electronic transfer to a BSB and Account number
  • Complete a BPAY using the biller code and customer reference number found on your bill.

If you must visit a Post Office:

  • Continue to follow social distancing guidelines, and use your cards to make a payment, as outlined in the previous section.

Please speak to one of our team if you need any assistance with setting up Internet banking or using BPAY.
